Cool
Globes Project
Title: World on Fire
The city supported project
was created to inspire and empower the public towards positive
environmental change. Ginny Sykes designed her piece “World
on Fire” to address issues of global warming and our
species’ reliance on water supply. Through tile
mosaic and sculptural collage, Sykes portrays the earth’s
water temperatures, currents, and our ability to regulate
consumption. “World on Fire” examines projected
water scarcity, and through a connecting series of tubes
and faucets, reminds us that together we can alter the unstable
future of one of our most essential resources. Sykes's
globe was exhibited at the Field Museum Campus in Chicago
and will be part of a book on solutions to global warming
published this fall. |
